We are an unofficial forum of Sacred Heart parishioners dedicated to dialogue – created by Sacred Heart parishioners for Sacred Heart parishioners and those who love Sacred Heart. Your opinions are greatly needed concerning “For Such a Time as This,” the renovation project scheduled to begin construction summer 2024. Our goal is to engage in a parish-wide discussion of this project – like a town hall meeting.
This website is our opportunity, as parishioners, to share opinions about this radical change to our Sanctuary and make our voices heard. The changes are the most drastic to our church interior in over 70 years. Whether you favor or oppose this project, we very much want to hear from YOU.
Many parishioners want to preserve our Church interior with NO major changes. “For Such a Time as This” removes most of the historic furnishings and artifacts in our Church. A new, modern, sleek interior will replace our historic interior. Many want our Basilica to continue to look and feel like an early 20th century Roman Catholic Church – a Historic Church. Our Basilica is on the National Register of Historic Places and designated an Atlanta Landmark Building. Please visit Photos above to see what will disappear from our Sanctuary.
Other parishioners oppose “For Such a Time as This” because they want to see more money spent to aid the poor; feed the homeless; help struggling families with food and utility bills, as opposed to renovating the Sanctuary.
Others think this entire process is just too rushed and too expensive. Because the changes are so drastic, they want more time to decide if they support “For Such a Time as This.”
At this point our congregation is deeply divided. Only Consensus will erase the Division. Only through Dialogue will we reach Consensus.

All people of Sacred Heart should be able to speak and be heard concerning a renovation of this magnitude. Your voice will help decide whether this project should go forward or be cancelled.
Once construction begins, there is no going back. We need to STOP NOW and take time to share our opinions with each other and Fr. John, in order to reach Consensus.
